Tips for Styling Your Pool!

You don’t have to spend a fortune to give your poolside area a refresh.  Adding some colour through foliage or updating accessories like towels and furniture can bring new life to your outdoor area. It’s important to consider the aesthetic you’re looking for and draw on inspiration from existing features like architecture, pool tiles, pavers or a favourite tree.

Add an Outdoor Shower

Outdoor showers will bring a beachside vibe to your pool area.  Not only are they super practical, they are also relatively simple to install. Sunscreen, sweat and body oils can unbalance the water chemistry so it’s a good idea to encourage bathers to shower before swimming and rinse off chlorine after they’ve been for a dip so they don’t need to trapse through the house with wet feet.

Outdoor Furniture

There’s an array of outdoor furniture options with the Coastal and Hamptons look proving the most popular choice for poolside entertaining areas.  With outdoor furniture being exposed to the elements of sun, rain and wind it’s worth investing in good quality furniture that will stand the test of time.  Look for ranges that have UV protection as they will prevent sun fading and it’s a good idea to store it away when it’s not in use.  If you’re on a budget, outdoor beanbags can look great by the pool and are super comfortable.

Add Some Shade

Parasols seem to be having a moment with pastel-coloured hues and nautical beach vibes adding retro glamour while providing much needed shade from the harsh sun.  There’s plenty of heavy duty cantilevered umbrellas that can be adjusted to move with the sun.  Paired with sun loungers and strategically positioned near the pool they will create that perfect resort vibe but most importantly provide sun protection.  Make sure you get a cover as it will protect your umbrella from the sun and consider weighting the umbrella down with some pavers so it doesn’t get blown away in gusty weather.

Pot Plants

The bigger the better!  Pots can be high impact and provide a lush focal point to break up hard surfaces within fenced and paved areas.

Update your Lighting

When the sun goes down, lights can add another dimension to your outdoor area bringing new life to outdoor entertaining.  Pool lights combined with some clever garden lighting can transform a space depending on the type of mood you’d like to create.

Add Some Colour

Strategically placed hooks for towels can be a great addition to a dull fence.  Plus it looks so much classier than towels hanging on your fence to dry.  You can incorporate a tropical, coastal or hamptons theme through some creatively styled hooks.
